What is a neighbourhood council?

It acts as a bridge between residents and the local council. Evere has three neighbourhood councils – Bas-Evere, Centre and Haut-Evere – which deal with matters of general interest such as roads, traffic, cleanliness and neighbourhood issues. They operate autonomously, without any links to political parties, and are independent of the local council.

Is the Council part of the municipality of Evere?

No. The Haut-Evere Neighbourhood Council is an independent citizens' initiative. It talks with the municipality of Evere but is not a municipal service.

Who can take part?

Any adult who lives or works in the neighbourhood. All you need to do is apply, and the committee will approve your application. Meetings are held at least once a quarter. You can also simply keep up to date with our news via the newsletter.

What should I do about an urgent problem in the street (pothole, lighting, dumping)?

Report it directly on FixMyStreet.brussels, which passes it on to the relevant services. You can also let the Council know so that it can follow up.
